Just a few outfits I wore over this month during the holidays, and I’m grateful for the weather we’ve been having which has been facilitating the lack of outerwear (trench coat in the rainstorm aside).
We have all grown to know and love the midi length in our lives. It is obsessively hunted, purchased, worn, and posted the world over, and it seems to be the sartorial staple of the year. But it may need to move its fabulous self over a tad to make room for the new new length: the ankle length. If you thought it couldn’t get any chicer, think again. Ankle length skirts are resurfacing and they are fresher than ever, in the form of ball gown skirts, pleats, and dresses. The perfect necessary space for showcasing the shoes, ankle grazing skirts and dresses are ladylike, yet maintain their cool factor and remain current. And while I can’t say I’ve moved on from the midi just yet, I can’t help but indulge in this trend right now.

Yesterday I stopped by Pink Label in Brooklyn to check out the Tibi trunk show. I wore a super high-waisted Midi length skirt, with a split-front and performed a modest improvisation with a black slip underneath. I turned up my sleeves and donned some silver criss-cross shoes. I know that soon I won’t be able to wear these Choos again for a while. Or any open shoe for that matter.
While most of the highly covetable full skirts were sold out by the time I stepped foot in the store, there was still plenty of gorgeous resort wear to be found for 2014. The trunk show is continuing today, and new pieces from the collection have arrived. The Full Midi Paint Splatter skirts can still be purchased on Tibi‘s site but the stock is low so if you’re interested you have to hurry. Their SoHo store usually has some stock left, but these skirts sell fast.
I am really loving this double breasted blazer right now. The outfit is simple, but the cropped boxiness of the blazer juxtaposed with the fullness of the skirt creates the perfect proportions for this Fall.
