It would be superfluous to talk about the temperature at this point, considering it is physically impossible for the cold to escape anyone’s attention. Just in case you are lounging luckily in warmer climates, the news is it’s freezing here. The past two days have required a cumbersome amount of layering, to no avail; it is still an environment conducive to hypothermia.
I went in very different style directions on each of these days, but I started both outfits with an ample chunky knit sweater, and built from there. A couple of layers later, and I was ready to bear the cold with a new appreciation for central heating, and extra hot vanilla lattes.
Thank goodness for Zara. This past season they have exceeded what anyone expected of them, and joined the ranks of the high fashion industry in full force. All the trends of the new season, wrapped up in a mainstream shopping experience for the masses. Included in this relatively consumer-friendly fashion evolution is this skirt (and a number of similar faux leather pieces). It is the perfect rich brown I knew I needed for this fall, yet I also foresee it transitioning flawlessly into spring.
I showed these fur booties here, and I am obsessed with them. I imagine I can wear them with almost any ensemble. They may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but to me they’re everything.

Recently I was asked how to wear fur, in a contemporary and young style, so as not to be aging. I never thought of fur as a wardrobe item of the more mature, but nonetheless I felt it imperative to shed light on the cool and luxe styling virtues that this pelage has to offer. For those of you who still find a fur vest or jacket too daunting, slipping on a pair of booties or gloves with a bit of trim on them can allow you the opportunity to don this perennial pelt, in a more subtle manner.
If your wallet is tight, but your creativity is not, you can check out a brilliant post by Sharon Langert of Fashionisha, who presented an impressive step-by-step DIY guide on how to recreate your own pair of fabulous fur-bedecked booties for the winter months ahead. I am always so amazed when someone possesses the innovation and enterprise to execute a project like this, as it is a preternatural concept for me and therefore totally out of my creative league.
