We all do it. Donning the Sweater and Shirt pairing is fairly popular and a common occurrence. But you can take it a step further, and trade out these short pieces for the longer dress versions, and create a new way to layer. I paired it with leather booties and a gold collar under the collar for some edge, and simple detail.

This season it seems the ultimate style staple may very well be The Sweatshirt. The street style arena has been filled with this particular piece, and it is just the coolest top we could have ever prayed for. It is casually classic but most importantly it is unexpected; who would have foreseen this barrage of sweatshirt-meets-chic skirt pairings taking over the streets? In fashion, the unpredictable serves us well and we are always thinking up newer elements of surprise. This one is perfect and definitely fits the bill, by sitting squarely between being dressed up and dressed down. The printed options are popular but you can achieve the look with equal panache by donning a plain old sweat-top. Wear it alone, or layered over a button-down, and pair it with leather pencils or full midis for that cool-girl style we can’t get enough of.
Shirt: Faconnable / Skirt: Schumacher / Necklace: J. Crew / Shoes: Jimmy Choo sim / Bag: Chanel / Sunnies: Chanel / Hair: Mazali Yesterday I stopped by Pink Label in Brooklyn to check out the Tibi trunk show. I wore a super high-waisted Midi length skirt, with a split-front and performed a modest improvisation with a black slip underneath. I turned up my sleeves and donned some silver criss-cross shoes. I know that soon I won’t be able to wear these Choos again for a while. Or any open shoe for that matter.
While most of the highly covetable full skirts were sold out by the time I stepped foot in the store, there was still plenty of gorgeous resort wear to be found for 2014. The trunk show is continuing today, and new pieces from the collection have arrived. The Full Midi Paint Splatter skirts can still be purchased on Tibi‘s site but the stock is low so if you’re interested you have to hurry. Their SoHo store usually has some stock left, but these skirts sell fast.
On that note, Tibi is also having their sample sale starting tomorrow. Included in the sale will be shoes, apparel, runway pieces, and current season items. Happy Shopping!
